Melanin Base Miles was created in response to the 2020 murder of George Floyd and is a Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) - based effort to increase access and remove barriers to dirt-based cycling for riders who are Black, Indigenous, and/or other people of color (BIPOC).
Melanin Base Miles programs visibly increase racial representation and promote racial equity.
We host a monthly community gravel ride the first Saturday of the month during spring, summer, and autumn months.
We host other bike and off-bike events. View the schedule and sign-up.
We invite riders to apply for entry into two non-competitive DMV dirt-based cycling events: Loudoun 1725 & MoCo Epic.
